Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach created by Peter Levine, PhD for healing trauma and related stress disorders. The SE approach works by releasing traumatic shock and restoring connection, which are key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. Somatic Experiencing explores where an individual may be “stuck” in a fight, flight, or freeze response and works with an individual’s natural resilience to move through these “stuck” self-protective responses.
