Hi there! My name is Brinthy Moorthy and I will be a postdoctoral resident at Del Soul Counseling and Wellness beginning in August of 2026! I have always hoped to eventually become a therapy provider with the hopes of helping to increase the diversity of providers available and normalize conversations around mental health within my own community. Much of this desire stemmed from my own journey navigating the ongoing, complex question of “Who am I?” within the context of differing, and often competing, social and cultural backgrounds.
I originally was born and raised in Northern California before moving to Southern California where I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychological Sciences at UC Irvine. I then moved to Arizona about 4 years ago to pursue my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University to be able to finally make my dream of pursuing a career in mental health come true.
Throughout my training, I have worked in residential facilities as well as outpatient clinics providing therapy and evaluation services. As a result, I have experience working with adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, and difficult family/relational dynamics. I am especially experienced in working with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals navigating stressors related to identity exploration and development within complex family and/or societal dynamics. My goal in the therapy room is to always remain a warm and welcoming space for all to feel seen and accepted with unconditional positive regard.
I use a combination of Humanistic/Existential, Emotion-Focused, IFS, CBT, and Mindfulness-based techniques within therapy sessions to help create an individualized and tailored experience that meets every client where they are at. I hope to be able to help you be present within yourself, validate your experiences and emotions, and gain the confidence to begin to change aspects of your life that are impacting your ability to cope and navigate with all of life’s unique stressors.
